Nutrition is very specific to each animal AND family depending on; time constraints, budgetary needs and health history. What may work flawlessly for one pet, may cause issues for another. During Nutrition Counseling we work closely with you over a period of weeks to months to find the best option for you and your pet, taking into consideration their unique needs.

We go over their medical history, diet, medications and supplements and formulate a longterm plan for your dog or cat. First we do a 25 minute phone consultation to go over your pets history and pin-point their needs and decide if Nutrition Counseling is right for you ($35, can be booked below). After your initial consultation you will receive plan options. If your pet is in good health, you may simply be looking for a better pre-made option OR your pet may have health concerns such as; allergies, leaky gut, HUA, or IBD conditions that need more attention, we will figure out your specific wants and needs during your initial phone consultation. Once you have selected your Nutrition Counseling Plan, you will receive an invoice and paperwork to be completed online. We then begin working on your pets customized Nutrition Plan and schedule your next appointment, which can range in time from 45 minutes -1.5 hours. During this next appointment we teach you about the Pet Food Industry, AAFCO & the FDAs role in pet food, the nutritional needs of your pet, how their diet can effect their health & behavior, and present your pets custom wellness plan. Your plan will include, written instructions, a shopping list, supplement instructions (if needed), resources, guides and notes. You will then have a series of wellness email check-ins or phone calls (depending on your plan) to make sure they’re on the right path and assist you and your pet on their new diet journey.

Where to begin?

Why does Nutrition matter?

Your pets diet can either be aiding them by supporting all bodily functions and warding off illness, or it could be causing inflammation and stress. Much like with our own nutrition, fresher and minimally processed food is best for overall health and wellness. However, our food has stricter regulations put in place to ensure quality, Conventional Pet Food is sorely lacking in regulation and quality assurance. It is said that most kibbles are more processed than human-snack foods… and you would not expect to thrive off of solely chips and cookies, so why do we expect them to?

Your pets gut is home to billions of tiny microorganisms that make-up the Gut Microbiome. This gut flora has a hand in nearly EVERY bodily function. It makes up 80% of Immune Function, is responsible for hormone production and control and digestion. Unfortunately, it’s also fragile, and can be thrown out of balance by; poor diet, antibiotics, medications, etc. Antibiotics and Medications are sometimes necessary, but often overused and the Gut Microbiome can take up to two years to repopulate on it’s own, and with it being the power house for many bodily functions it’s vitally important to support it with proper diet.

If your pet has; allergies, GI issues, skin problems or other health concerns this will require a more involved approach.

Recipes

We formulate complete & balanced recipes to meet or exceed AAFCOs current standards for nutrient levels. We use ADF software to breakdown each macro and micronutrient and our years of experience to formulate recipes that are not only nutritionally complete, but also biologically appropriate for your dog or cat. These range between $45-$65 per recipe depending on difficulty and needs. We do offer packages of recipes at discounted rates. This is subject to change depending on case difficulty.

Nutrition Plan

We take about 1-2 weeks to formulate your plan and spend between 1-4 hours on this depending on difficulty. Plan pricing includes the price for your long appointment as well as your pets personalized plan. Plan pricing is specific to each dog and their unique case. General pricing is between $280-$400 for one pet, if you have several pets that requires separate plans and there are significant discounts for each additional plan, additional plans are typically around $150. This is subject to change depending on case difficulty.

Continued Support

The amount of support will vary depending on your pets needs, if there are health concerns, etc. Typically you will receive a package of weekly, biweekly, or monthly email or phone check-ins to support you and your pet on their new wellness journey. We use these to make adjustments, offer counsel, etc. This package typically comes out to between $105-$320 for up to 4 months of help, depending on the amount of support you choose with your plan. This is more geared towards dogs who are dealing with health issues like; IBD, Allergies, HUA, etc. This is subject to change depending on case difficulty.

Some of our Testimonials...

IBD, Allergies, HUA, CKD, Dermatitis, Pancreatitis Leaky Gut, Joint Problems? Your pet doesn’t have to suffer. Nutrition Counseling can help.

While we can do a lot with food therapy, Nutrition Counseling does not replace Veterinary care. If you are concerned that your pet has health issues it is always important to consult a veterinarian. We’re happy to work alongside your vet for a well-rounded approach. We are happy to refer you to one if needed.
